Fired FBI Director James Comey is insisting that President Trump urged him to let go of the investigation of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, who has emerged as a key figure in the Russia investigation.
Comey testifies before the Senate Intelligence Committee tomorrow and his opening statement has been released (READ - PDF). He claims that Trump said "I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go."
Flynn was fired by Trump in February amid questions about conversations with the Russian ambassador.
In another meeting, Comey said Trump asked for his loyalty. Comey pledged his "honest loyalty" and Trump accepted that.
President Trump fired Comey last month and said he was not doing a good job.
