It's the first day of this year's hurricane season and officials are encouraging people to attend an awareness event in Baton Rouge.
Representatives of several government agencies will be on hand today at the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport to offer advice on how to prepare to weather a hurricane.
The event will run from 1:00 this afternoon to 6:00 tonight. It's free and open to the public.
