Baker Man Indicted In Attempted Murder

USA, New Jersey, Jersey City, Judges gavel

A Baker man who's accused of slitting a woman's throat in Baton Rouge is being indicted on several charges.

An East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury has charged Manuel Mejia with kidnapping, rape and attempted murder for an incident back in January.

Police say Mejia, who's originally from Honduras and is in the United States illegally, took the woman to his home after the two agreed to have sexual relations for a fee.

Police say he hit her, tied her up and sexually assaulted her, then drove her to a parking lot, where he slit her throat and left her.
