The downtown is seeing an upswing in demand, and the city believes it has found a way to meet that demand.
The Downtown Development District says more people are looking to live in downtown Baton Rouge to be close to work and entertainment. To meet that growing demand, the DDD revealed last week that 250 more housing units are either in the planning stages or already under construction.
Most are renter-occupied, but more than a third will be owner-occupied.
