Cancer patients who can't get traditional radiation treatments will be getting another option.
Plans were announced Wednesday to open a proton radiation cancer treatment center in the Baton Rouge Health District. Proton radiation therapy is available to cancer patients whose tumors are too close to vital organs or tissue.
The center is expected to open in 2019 and will employ about a hundred people.
