Man Dies After Car Catches Fire In Florida Blvd. Crash

(WBRZ News 2) Police say one person was killed and a second person hurt in an early morning crash on Florida Boulevard in Baton Rouge Monday.

According to Baton Rouge Police, the two-vehicle crash happened around 12:30 a.m. in the 8000 block of Florida Blvd.

Crash investigators say a Chevrolet Tahoe was struck from behind by a Hyundai Elantra while waiting a red light. The crash caused the Elantra to catch on fire.

Witnesses in the area were able to remove the Elantra driver, 38-year-old Larry Singleton, from his vehicle, but he died at the scene.

The driver of the Tahoe was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

BRPD says the crash remains under investigation.
