Governor Edwards has opened the 2017 legislative session.
Several big items are on the agenda for this session, including criminal justice, tax reform and of course the budget.
The governor touted Medicaid expansion, saying nearly 417,000 Louisiana residents have received healthcare through the program.
He also went on to say that we live in one of the world's leading destinations for new business expansion and relocation projects.
