State Medicaid costs approach close to half of Governor John Bel Edwards' proposed budget.
The anticipated $13 billion Medicaid tab is almost half of Edwards' $28.6 billion budget. Most of the Medicaid cost, more than 70 percent, will be funded by contributions from the federal government.
