DAs Not Happy With Edwards' Criminal Justice Reform Proposal

Prosecutors in Louisiana disagree with the sort of reforms Governor Edwards is proposing to reduce inmate populations.

Yesterday's statement issued by the Louisiana District Attorneys Association says "Louisiana DAs generally support efforts to responsibly reduce" the inmate population. The association statement goes on to say the DAs do not believe several points in Governor Edwards' proposal meet the "responsible" criteria.

One of Edwards' points with which the prosecutors don't agree would give certain inmates serving life sentences for violent crimes the opportunity for a parole hearing.
