Legislation Proposed To Abolish Death Penalty In Louisiana

Three legislators with a law enforcement background are introducing bills to abolish the death penalty in Louisiana.

Representative Terry Landry was a State Police Superintendent under Governor Mike Foster, Representative Steven Pylant was Franklin Parish Sheriff and Senator Dan Claitor was a prosecutor in New Orleans.

Each man has a different reason for wanting do away with the death penalty, but Representative Clayter says it's expensive and not effective, and his view is aligned with that of the Catholic Church.
