Cortana Mall in Baton Rouge is about to lose another anchor.
Friday, JCPenney released the list of 138 stores it will close nationwide as part of a plan to "optimize retail operations". The Cortana location joins two others in Louisiana that will close.
While a firm closing date was not announced, the company says the liquidation process will begin in April and many stores will shut their doors in June. Approximately 5,000 positions nationwide will be impacted.
The closure will leave Cortana Mall with only one traditional anchor store, a Dillard's Clearance Center.
