(WBRZ News 2) Police have identified the man they say was shot and killed while trying to break-in to a home in Baton Rouge Wednesday morning.
The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 500 block of Carr Alley. Baton Rouge Police say Anthony Gordon, 40, was killed after forcing his way into the home. Gordon was confronted by the homeowner and shot during a struggle over the weapon. He died at the scene.
District Attorney Hillar Moore told WBRZ News 2 that the shooting looks to be justified.
“It appears at this point that a family was just minding their own business in their home and an individual attempted to enter the home,” Moore told News 2’s Brett Buffington.
The shooting is still under investigation.
Baton Rouge Police taped the scene off for more than an hour while crime scene investigators collected evidence, including pictures of the area.
Court records note that Gordon was on probation after he pleaded guilty in a misdemeanor case where he was accused of stealing TVs from Walmart. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest on March 1 after he failed to appear in court for a probation review.
Family members told WBRZ that he was a father of four children and worked as a barber out of his home.
