A Houston-based oil company is being ordered to pay nearly $10 million in damages for an oil platform explosion in the Gulf of Mexico.
U.S. attorneys in Washington, DC and Louisiana announced the order against the Wood Group Thursday. The company's office in Cameron, Louisiana, was accused of falsely reporting safety inspections for more than three years.
The company was also convicted of Clean Water Act violations for the 2012 explosion at its West Delta 32 platform in the Gulf.
