SCOTUS: Louisiana Reaction To Gorsuch Nomination

Louisiana's senators are praising President Trump's pick for the Supreme Court.

Senior Senator Bill Cassidy offered a full-throated endorsement of SCOTUS nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch in a statement last night, calling Gorsuch "an intelligent conservative" and said that "any action to prevent or delay a vote on Gorsuch's nomination is purely political and opposed to the wishes of the American people."

Junior Senator John Kennedy is refraining from a full-endorsement of SCOTUS nominee Neil Gorsuch.  The Madisonville statesman said in a statement last night that, "the American people deserve a full and fair vetting process" of Gorsuch, who he called "qualified."

Kennedy went on to say that he wants "to know what's in his heart," "what he thinks about past Supreme Court decisions" and to understand his judicial philosophy.

Congressman Cedric Richmond is calling on Senate lawmakers on Capitol Hill to oppose President Trump's nominee to the Supreme Court.

The Democratic representative who leads the Congressional Black Caucus said last night in a statement that the President "nominated a judge who has been openly hostile to women's rights and lenient on police brutality to the Supreme Court."  He went on to "demand a nominee with a record of protecting the rights of all Americans."
