Kenner Seven-Year-Old Saves Residents From Fire

A family of five is thanking a little boy for saving their lives, but the boy's mother thinks there's a higher authority who also deserves some thanks.

Seven-year-old DeShawn Labarriere was at his babysitter's house early Saturday morning in Kenner when it caught fire.  DeShawn put a blanket over his head and banged on the doors of the house to wake everyone up and get them to safety.

His mom tells WWL-TV DeShawn's late grandfather was a firefighter and must have been acting as a guardian angel.
