Richmond Testifies Against Sessions

The man expected to be the future attorney general could take race relations backward. That's what Democratic Congressman Cedric Richmond said yesterday while testifying against the nomination of Jeff Sessions.

Richmond says Sessions opposed the Voting Rights Act and will not fight for the rights of minorities.  He also says any senator who confirms Sessions will be a co-conspirator in moving the country back toward a darker period in our history.

Richmond also told the Judiciary Committee he was insulted that he had to testify on the last day of Sessions' confirmation hearing. He said it was the equivalent of being made to go to the back of the bus.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham tells TheDailyBeast.com the comment was highly offensive and if it was up to him, Richmond might not have been allowed to testify at all.
