Funeral services are planned for this week for former East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Melvin "Kip" Holden.
Holden died last Wednesday morning at age 72.
East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards will welcome Holden's body to Baton Rouge City Hall at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Holden will lie in state there, and the public will be able to pay their respects until 8 p.m.
The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Greater King David Baptist Church on Blount Road in Baton Rouge. Prior to the funeral, visitation will start at 8 a.m.
