Entergy is upgrading its electric grid in Ascension Parish, where thousands of residents lost power after Hurricane Francine.
The utility plans to spend $39 million to replace 60 miles of power poles and strengthen power lines in Gonzales and Sorrento. The improvements will better protect nearly 6,000 customers from future storms.
The affected customers include homes, schools, Our Lady of the Lake Ascension Hospital, Lamar Dixon Expo Center, Sorrento City Hall, and the Sorrento Police Department.
