Former nursing home owner Bob Dean Junior has agreed to an $8.2 million settlement over federal embezzlement charges.

The Department of Justice alleges Dean misused funds from four Louisiana nursing homes, including facilities in New Orleans and Houma, both before and after Hurricane Ida.

His handling of an evacuation during the storm, where residents were moved to an unsafe warehouse, led to multiple deaths and the revocation of his licenses.

Dean is also accused of spending nursing home funds on personal items like antiques and firearms.
