Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome is announcing the death of one of her staffers in a weekend traffic accident.
Baton Rouge police say Simone Pillette was driving eastbound on I-12 around 1 a.m. Sunday when she was involved in a minor collision with another vehicle.
Pillette's car ran off the freeway, hit a tree, and caught fire.
Pillette was Broome's office manager and was also involved in the Mayor's Advisory Council on Veterans Affairs.
