The Saints are rewarding a member of their defense with a new contract.
ESPN is reporting that New Orleans is signing linebacker Pete Werner to a three-year contract extension worth more than $25 million.
The deal includes $17.5 million guaranteed and will keep Werner signed through the 2027 season.
The 25-year-old had 93 tackles, one interception and two fumble recoveries through 16 starts last season.
The 2021 second round pick was entering the final year of his rookie contract and was set to count $1.8 million against the salary cap prior to the new deal.
