A New Orleans-based appeals court is removing a Supreme Court candidate from the ballot over tax irregularities.

Leslie Richard Chambers, chief of staff of the Louisiana Housing Corporation, was in the running for the state's second majority-black seat.

A Baton Rouge judge last week said Chambers could stay on the ballot despite questions as to whether she had filed a 2022 tax return.

On Thursday, the 4th Circuit Court of Appeal ruled Chambers is ineligible to run for the Supreme Court's 2nd District for not having the return on file.
