The East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council administrator says applications are being accepted for a vacant seat on the council.
LaMont Cole resigned his seat on the Metro Council after he was hired to be the parish's public school superintendent.
City ordinances say the remaining council members have 20 days to select a replacement.
Candidates must be able to prove they live in Metro Council District 7.
The council will meet a week from today to name Cole's replacement.
