A critical weather radar in the North Shore area is online again after a relocation effort that took months.
The radar was moved from Slidell to Hammond to provide better coverage for Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas.
The radar is part of NEXRAD, the Next-Generation Weather Radar network, which covers the United States and its territories.
The radars have been upgraded over the past few years to improve their performance. Some have been moved to improve the coverage they provide.
