A woman was recently convicted of attempted murder after her confession to her pastor was used in court.
Officials in Ascension Parish said Peggy Valentine called her pastor for help after she stabbed her fiancé's girlfriend with a box cutter.
The pastor, who is also a major in the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, later heard Valentine admit to trying to catch her fiancé with the woman while another deputy was in the room.
Valentine's lawyers tried to argue the confession should be removed for pastor privilege, but the judge said there was no expectation of privacy since another person was with them.
