The Louisiana Secretary of State's Office reports more than 340,000 residents have taken advantage of early voting in the 2023 governor's primary.

The agency says as of Tuesday, nearly 346,000 people have voted. Most voted in person, but just over 72,000 mail-in votes have also been received.

Figures show an edge of about 15,000 more Republicans than Democrats have turned out early to cast their ballots.

University of Louisiana Monroe professor Pearson Cross predicts the November 18th runoff will pit Republican Jeff Landry against Democrat Shawn Wilson.
