The Ascension Parish Council is set to vote on Thursday to authorize the purchase of a chosen site for a new animal shelter.
The council selected the site two weeks ago, out of three that were considered. The site is nearly nine acres on Airline Highway, next to the Flea Market of Louisiana.
The council will vote on whether to approve the negotiated asking price of $840,000.
The new shelter will replace the overcrowded existing facility.
The council meeting is at 6 p.m. at the Ascension Parish Courthouse.
