Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome says the upcoming resignation of Baton Rouge Police Chief Murphy Paul isn't politically motivated.
Paul announced his resignation on Wednesday.
Broome was booed by the crowd of LSU fans at Alex Box Stadium last month celebrating the Tigers' win in the College World Series.
Her slipping popularity is leading to speculation about whether she's making some changes.
Paul will remain with the department until November 3.
