The Raising Cane's River Center is gearing up to welcome pro hockey to Baton Rouge.
On Wednesday, the Metro Council unanimously approved more than $3 million of hotel-motel tax revenue for the first renovation of the arena since 2011.
The funding is in addition to $2 million the council approved last October.
The funds will pay for a Jumbotron with replay capability, locker rooms, new-lower level seating, and an extra Zamboni.
The hockey team released its inaugural season schedule this week, with play scheduled to begin on October 26 against the Columbus River Dragons.
