More and more robocalls are lighting up cell phones around the country.
According to YouMail's Robocall Index, the number of robocalls jumped nearly six percent in January over the previous month.
Big cities tend to have the highest volume of calls, but when it comes to per capita numbers, Baton Rouge leads the way.
Also making the top list are cities like Memphis, Tennessee; Little Rock, Arkansas; Macon, Georgia; Birmingham, Alabama; and Charleston, South Carolina.
One theory on why the South sees so many robocalls is that people there tend to answer their phones more, leading to even more robocalls.
