A former deputy is being sentenced to 100 years in prison after pleading guilty to sex crimes against children.
Dennis Perkins entered the plea to charges including second-degree rape and sexual battery of a child under the age of 18, ending the case just six days before his trial was scheduled to begin.
Prosecutors said Perkins sexually assaulted a child under 13, produced child pornography, among other crimes.
Perkins was a 17-year veteran with the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office before his arrest in 2019.
