The East Baton Rouge Metro Council will hear today from several city departments about the mayor's proposed $1 billion 2023 budget.
Today's meeting will feature presentations from the mayor's office, the Office of Community Development, the Department of Building & Grounds, Prison Medical Services, and Juvenile Services.
Mayor Sharon Weston-Broome's budget proposal is about five percent bigger than the previous year. It includes a 13 percent pay raise for police, plus outlays for public safety and improved drainage.
