Emergency responders are anticipating traffic nightmares on I-10 when a planned roadwork project gets underway.
Baton Rouge EMS is working with the Department of Transportation and Development to come up with a way for emergency crews to respond when the widening project reduces traffic to one lane in each direction.
One idea is for some first-response teams to be stationed on or near the freeway.
Another is to use sprint vehicles to get through. These are pickup trucks or SUVs equipped with emergency gear.
