The East Baton Rouge Parish Mosquito Abatement and Rodent Control now has the go-ahead to buy a new helicopter.
Members of the Metro Council on Wednesday approved the agency's purchase of the new chopper for more than $4 million.
The agency has a dedicated tax millage that's governed by the Metro Council. As a result, council members must approve any big-ticket item the agency wants to buy.
The new aircraft will be used to spray for mosquitoes over a wider area.
