U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise is standing firm in defense of gun rights.
In an interview on Fox News Sunday, the Louisiana Republican repeated his opposition to more gun-control laws.
Scalise is the Republican Whip, the GOP's second highest-ranking member in the House of Representatives.
He pointed out that law-abiding Americans use guns to defend themselves every day.
Scalise was shot and critically wounded in 2017 when James Hodgkinson opened fire on Republican members of Congress at a Virginia baseball field.
