A Louisiana lawmaker is calling for an investigation of the East Baton Rouge Public Defender's Office.

State Rep. C. Denise Marcelle says 30 people have left the office since Chief Public Defender Lisa Parker took charge less than a year ago.

The departures include attorneys, secretaries, and support staff, and Marcelle says the morale of the remaining employees has gone down.

Some of the former employees are suing the Public Defender's Office, which could stick taxpayers with an expensive settlement.
