The East Baton Rouge Metro Council will soon decide whether to approve Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome's plan to spend $73 million in federal money.
The city-parish is proposing to use funds from the second round of American Rescue Plan payments for drainage upgrades, covering pandemic-related revenue losses, and improving public safety.
The proposed uses of the funds for crimefighting include 75 cameras parish-wide, pay raises for police, and new patrol units and other crimefighting gear for the BRPD.
