The Baton Rouge Police Department is announcing a new tactic to help them stop package theft this holiday season.
On Thursday, BRPD officials said they had created a detective squad to go directly after package thieves and home burglars.
The undercover officers will also deploy new cameras, license plate readers, and use neighborhood doorbell footage to catch the criminals in the act and track them.
Tips for combatting porch pirates include tracking packages online, asking a neighbor to bring them inside if you are not home, and using a third party locker location to pick it up.
