The deadline to sign the petition to remove Connie Bernard from the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board is approaching.
Organizers say they need to submit at least 7,649 valid signatures by December 21 to force a recall election and they've collected more than 2,000 signatures so far.
The effort to recall Bernard comes after she was caught shopping online at a School Board meeting during a sensitive debate about renaming a high school that was named after a Confederate general.
