The race for East Baton Rouge Mayor-President will go to a runoff between incumbent Sharon Weston Broome and former state Representative Steve Carter.
Local officials say neither candidate took more than 50% of the vote Tuesday, meaning the two will head to a December 5 runoff.
Unofficial results from the Louisiana Secretary of State's office showed Broome with 48% of the vote to Carter's 20%.
