Major changes are coming to the Baton Rouge Zoo.
Officials say construction on Phase 1, which will tackle most of the zoo's infrastructure, could begin in just a few months and is expected to cost around $30 million.
Assistant Director of the Baton Rouge Zoo Jim Fleshman says that in addition to the exciting new animal exhibits, the new renovations will include a new stormwater system, as well as a brand new sewer system.
Phase 1 will also include relocating the entrance, placing it next to Greenwood Park.
BREC says they hope these renovations will bring new life and visitors into the zoo.
