Officials Confirm EF-1 Tornado Touched Down Wednesday In Baton Rouge

The National Weather Service is confirming that an EF-1 tornado touched down on Wednesday morning in East Baton Rouge Parish.

According to reports, the twister reached the ground in Independence with wind speeds up to 110-miles-per-hour and traveled about three-and-a-half-miles.

The tornado left a damage path around 100-yards wide and partially collapsed the roof of the Ammon Staffing Building along I-10.

No injuries were reported, but officials say a vehicle was lifted over the interstate and caused minor damage to Westminster Elementary School.
