The National Hurricane Center is giving a high chance that an area of disturbed weather, associated with the remnants of a tropical storm from the Pacific Ocean, could form in to a tropical despression in the Bay of Campeche.
If the system were to develop into a tropical storm, it would be the third named system - Christobal - of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season that officially began Monday.
Tropical Storms Arthur and Bertha impacted the east coast of the United States. The next name on the list is Christobal.
The potential impact to the Gulf Coast from this system would be moisture coming in from the Gulf of Mexico bringing rains later in the week.
The NHC says the more immediate impact will be heavy rainfall for parts of southern Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Belize and western Honduras.
