Edwards Declares State of Emergency Following Sunday's Tornadoes

Governor John Bel Edwards is declaring a state of emergency following a series of storms that produced several tornadoes.

The storms hit the northern part of Louisiana on Sunday, with damage reported in Ouachita, Bossier, and DeSoto parishes.

The National Weather Service confirmed heavy rain, wind gusts up to 60 MPH, large hail, flash flooding and funnel clouds.

Edwards said he is declaring the emergency to allow the parishes to get assistance from the state government quickly.
