Baton Rouge Working To Improve Traffic Light Synchronization

Baton Rouge is preparing to install new, internet-capable controllers in half of the city's traffic lights.

Chief traffic engineer Ingolf Partenheimer says the goal of the improvements is to inform drivers on their exact commute times in real-time using the new technology.

Partenheimer stated it may take two to three years before all the lights are connected to the new system but drivers should still be able to notice the new improvements.

Baton Rouge will be among the first southern cities to implement a system this advanced at a scale this large.
