St. George's incorporation is being put in question following a lawsuit filed by Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and two private citizens.
The lawsuit blocks the proposed city's formation until after the litigation is worked out, not only in state and district courts but any appeals, as well.
It's asking for the court to take into consideration what adverse effects the incorporation could have on other municipalities in the vicinity.
A statement on the city's Facebook page said the lawsuit was "...at best, an attempt to delay the incorporation of the City of St. George, and at worst, an attempt to undermine a lawful election."
