A plan to remodel the Baton Rouge Zoo and Greenwood Park is moving forward following approval yesterday by the East Baton Rouge Parish Board of Commissioners.
The new proposal would invest $30 million at the 660-acre site to add a new entrance on Highway 19 along with a playground and animal feeding station.
The Baton Rouge Zoo opened in 1970 and is currently home to over 800 animals from around the world.
The remodeling project is scheduled to begin next fall with a completion date of 2022.
