A man who was shot and killed last week by a sheriff's deputy was the victim of a single bullet to the back of his neck, according to an autopsy report.
The gunshot severed Josef Richardson's spinal cord and severely injured the base of his skull.
The 38-year-old Port Allen man died at the scene.
Deputies had been serving a warrant at a Budget Motel 7 room when a deputy shot Richardson, according to state police.
The agency hasn't disclosed why the yet unidentified deputy fired his gun.
