Former President Obama is congratulating a woman he granted clemency after she made the dean's list.
He penned a handwritten letter to Danielle Metz for her achievement.
She was sentenced to three life sentences and an additional 20 years for her role in her husband's drug trafficking ring.
In 2016, Obama commuted her sentence and she went on to enroll at Southern University in Louisiana after she left prison.
Metz finished her freshman year with a 3.75 GPA and hopes to pursue a career in social work.
