Update Monday 1pm: BRProud.com reports the coroner has ruled the death of Sadie Roberts-Joseph a homicide, with the preliminary cause of death "traumatic asphyxia, including suffocation".
Police in Baton Rouge are investigating the death of African-American cultural advocate Sadie Roberts-Joseph.
The 75-year-old's body was found Friday in the trunk of a car parked a few miles from her home.
Roberts-Joseph is remembered for her many contributions to the betterment of quality of life in her Baton Rouge community.
She founded the Odell S. Williams Now and Then African American Museum and the non-profit Community Against Drugs and Violence.
A post yesterday on the Baton Rouge NAACP Facebook page mourns Roberts-Joseph's passing saying, "We lost a cultural legend yesterday."
Baton Rough police investigators are still working to solve the case.
So far, investigators have not said how she died nor are providing many other details.
An autopsy is scheduled to happen today.
